"MED"ley of Meds
Checked the hedge along the back of the cem and golf course with no luck then a walk along the links just south of St Mary's Island as the tide was coming in a couple of thousand gulls feeding and loafing along the foreshore, I just love this kind of spectacle ,gulls ,turnstones, sanderlings, redshanks and the odd purple sandpiper picked over the sand and seaweed as each incoming wave washed over the beach, I found three Med gulls and that was just about half way along, a 1st winter that kept its distance offshore a 2nd winter on the beach and an adult that also sat offshore, cycled up on Thursday via Holywell pond still a good number of Little Grebes around they must have had a great year as far as breeding goes a Hawker along the railway track buzzed around our heads as I tried to get some shots of it, at St Mary's the only bird of note apart from the display of Golden Plover whirling around the lighthouse was a Kingfisher that hugged the cliffside's as it flew around the north bay heading south.
