31-03-08 Firecrest,Swallows and the end of March

Started the day at Castle Island again with nothing unusual next stop QE11 pond just to check the gulls a Gadwall with a broken wing amongst the Swans,no sign of the Cranes at this time ,next stop Cresswell Lake I say lake as the level is the highest I have seen it ,still plenty of Yellowhammers & Reed Buntings with noisy Tree Sparrows, 5 Red Breasted Merganser, and the Smew still present, but everything seems miles away from the hide ,next stop a look for the Twite etc: but not on show today, stopped at the screen by the pools at Druridge first bird I found here a FIRECREST keeping company with Goldcrest & Chiffchaff, they moved off but as I was looking over the pools (4 Swallows and 2 Sand Martins over) it came back around giving good views, but hard to get any photos of , on to the hide with only a few Tufted and Mallard, but a SEO showing well in the evening light a good day out !!! Thats the end of March
