Friday the 6th and I thought I would cycle to Holywell via the tracks in the hope of some Yellowhammers etc:, but alas no flocks of yellowhammers feeding around the farms or feed troughs in fact all I had was a Jack Snipe flushed as I had to make a detour due to the ankle deep mud, Holywell was mostly frozen in this case nearer the hide plenty of gulls around a high percentage Black headed, nothing unusual in with them usual birds at the feeders and a Water Rail dodged behind every bit of cover as it went in front of the hide , not a bad afternoon weather wise anyway.

I only had my bins so I suppose I could have missed something down at the far end

The very skulking water Rail

Your Water Rail photos trump my effort from today.

Hides are the only place you are going to get a photo of any ,but they are not easy.
