Seawatch Fri/Sat 6/7-6-09
Long Tailed Duck , that's its long tail on the water
Prolonged rain on Friday kept me in for most of the day ,I don't mind going out and getting wet if there is something to get wet for, but late afternoon I was going seawatching rain or not ,but as it turned out the sun shone at it was very pleasant standing on the point at Seaton Sluice, a scan of the sea where the outflow used to be revealed a summer male LONG TAILED DUCK very unusual for June , also male Common Scoter & Razorbill, which made for a nice eyeful, enough Manx passing to make it interesting with a total of 60+ in a couple of hours, 200 odd Gannets, and a single Bonxie.
Saturday morning LTD still around which is when I got this shot , 40+ Manx, but about 400 Gannets and 2 Bonxie, and a few Scoter, not fantastic but enough just to get your eye in after a long spell .
