Harthope Valley 12-5-09

Started the day early parked at the ford end of Happy Valley and walked through , a ground frost in the sheltered places and rather cold air and colder breeze, Grey Wags on the stream , but not much singing in the woods , a Marsh Tit calling loudly as it flitted around, three Buzzards overhead as I came out in the open , Garden Warbler with three singing out in the open two in the same spot as last year, just to far to photograph, Blackcap, Willow & Chiffchaff, singing, Common Sandpipers on the shingle stretches, and Oystercather in the field, with the first Cuckoo of the year , I think the cold was having an effect with not much on show , to sum it up I also had Whinchats, Redstart, 3 Ring Ouzels up the Hawsen Burn, Tree Pipit, Green Woodpecker (s), Siskin, Redpoll, Red Grouse, Red Legged Partridge, Sparrowhawk, Kestrel, Roe Deer, 2 Adders numerous Hares, but oddly no Dipper, I was the only dipper not getting hardly any photographs all day, still a fantastic place to spend your time back again at the end of the month
Wren the only songster I was able to get !!!!!!!!!!!!!

One of 3 Ring Ouzels up the Hawsen Burn this flew over to a female on the other side of the burn

I always forget to take some shots of the area, it really is fantastic...
