Bothal, Longhirst, Linton,9-5-09

Garden Warbler, warbling at Linton Ponds


Started the day off at Bothal the small pond to the West is drying up , Swallows & House Martins collecting mud from the edge, again a large number of Swifts over the pond and to the north, not a great deal else , next stop Longhirst flash, again just a couple of Coots & Mallard with a Wigeon on the grass as was a few Great Black backs, Linton next a couple of whites & a Peacock along the path as it was sheltered , in the woods my first Garden Warbler of the year, singing in the Apple tree it moved along to the west, Willows & Chiffchaffs, and near the hide Blackcap and some sedge Warblers , a flock of gulls dropped in about 13:oo a few Swifts over but mostly Sand martins feeding over the pond with the odd Swallow,Mallard & Mutes with young , a single GCGrebe, 2 Little Grebes, Tufted & Mallards, another windy day !!!!!!

I put this down as a 4th year Lesser Black-backed ?(3rd Summer )
