1-04-07 Shaftoe /Bolam

An afternoon run to Shaftoe Crags just for a walk and perhaps a Wheatear parked near the main road and walked up although you can drive along the track and park in the field, Two Buzzards soaring and displaying where the first birds,Pied Wagtail singing Chiffchaff nearby,Yellowhammers/Chaffinch in the farm yard Gsw calling,a flock of about 100 Fieldfare went over this tree and again later over the track back to the car,no Wheatear but did have a Small Copper as it was very warm in sheltered spots but very cold in the open ,plenty of Meadow Pipits & Skylarks.
Bolam on the way back with Gsw's drumming loudly and chasing each other,Green heard but not seen ,Goldeneye still on the lake,Chiffchaffs singing as where Nuthatch etc. also Longtailed,Blue,Great.and a few Jays with a very large Sparrowhawk through,Fieldfares again in the treetops then flew east,could have been the ones from earlier.another pair of Buzzards near Morpeth on the way back,its great to have Buzzards just about everytime I go out nowadays,only a matter of time before I get one over my house,a look at West Hartford about 19-30 no SEO (3 reported)or Barn Owl nevertheless a good day out to the start of Spring!!!!
