06-02-07 WEST HARTFORD/PLESSEY WOODS



Called in at West Hartford on the way to Plessey Woods no Short Eared flying two Fielfare drinking in the Small pools with Starlings,main pool frozen but with 20 Teal along the edge and 100+ gulls ,2 + 2 Stonechat,small flock of Meadow Pipits 15+.Plessey first bird Treecreeper just by the bridge Mallard on the river,2 Nuthatch along the path + 6 L.T.Tits, 3-4 Jay calling loudly on the bend came back to the same place three times I scanned looking for perhaps an Owl or something but nothing, about 40+ Mallard along the river,Dipper feeding Joined by a second then a third which was chased off,up the hill to the field edge Bullfinches here(most times) with Great,Blue & Goldcrest with 3 Mistle Thrush & Song Thrush in the Cow field,Gsw calling then drumming,my first drumming for the year but only briefly went off to feed joined by a second and also a third which was also chased off rapidly,another Treecreeper,and 2 Nuthatch nearby,Dog's Mercury starting to come through strongly,a good walk best done when its quiet.

are you photo's digi-scoped or have you got a camera with a big lens

Thanks for that,
I do use Digiscope (kowa + nikon 4500) but these are using a tele lens the light is always darker on the river so not as good as I had hoped,have yet to write this up.
